The Work on the Ring Road program is committed to improving the quality of life in the region. This is being done by investing in built space and repairing and improving the green-blue network. The redesign of the Jezus-Eik village center is part of this ambition.
The village center is approached in phases:
In Phase 0, which has already been completed, the main focus was on quality of life. Reduce the road traffic speed by narrowing the Brusselsesteenweg and creating some kinks in the road. This has freed up space for large trees and benches. With these interventions, the area is already more pleasant for residents and gentle road users.

In this phase of the project, motor traffic will be separated from bicycle and pedestrian traffic by two new bridges over the E411, which will provide safe and comfortable crossing. The new bicycle and pedestrian bridge has also been carefully placed in line with the Ring Cycle path on Welriekendedreef and connected to bicycle highway F204.
New bus stops will be built on both sides of the highway, directly under the Kersenbomenlaan bridge. These stops are shielded from traffic and provide a direct connection to and from Brussels. This will provide improved accessibility to the Jezus-Eik center by public transport. Parking areas will also be moved to the back of the houses, next to the highway, with a connection to the new bus stop.
In the next phase, there are plans to re-examine the entire E411 slip road complex. The thorough redesign of the Jezus-Eik junction is part of the redesign of the R0 East and is therefore done through an integrated planning process using a regional spatial implementation plan (RSIP).
This allows for the full development of the Jezus-Eik center as a recreational gateway to the Sonian Forest with space for terraces, cycle paths and greenery.
