The new viewpoint is a discrete structure that is optimally integrated into its surroundings. The site itself boasts a very intimate character at the start and exhilarating panoramic views at the end. Our aim is to highlight these unique qualities of the location and not replace them with an overwhelming architectonic object.
To ensure that the view remains intact, the plan is to put an engineering structure in place with depth rather than height. By means of a stairway and incline that are infinitely connected with each other, it is possible to ‘enter’ the hill and stand in the void of the imposing view. An elliptical steel structure will in part be suspended over the ridge, while the other part will be anchored in the open grassland.
From the roadway, an unobtrusive double line between the trees invites visitors to explore the panoramic view into the forest. The existing vegetation will be preserved as best as possible, and no trees will be cut down.
Our goal is to allow nature to prevail, and to keep human intervention at a minimum. The assignment for this engineering structure is to structure the space and guide visitors, while preserving the unique atmosphere of the location.
