On 30 September, Rijkswaterstaat and the contracted market parties will jointly celebrate the start of a new phase in their collaboration. Over the next four to six years, these parties will work together under the new Framework Cooperation Agreements (SROKs) for Engineering Services and Project and Process Management. These agreements are of great importance for successfully carrying out Rijkswaterstaat’s major renewal program.

At 70 years old, Lubov Izbash comes to the office every morning full of enthusiasm. The architect, trained in both Russia and Belgium and having worked at engineering firm SBE for nearly two decades, embodies a ready-made solution to Belgium’s staff shortage. “Architecture is my work and my passion,” Lubov explains, her eyes lighting up as she talks about her latest projects. “I still feel young here every day, even at 70. Some even consider me a real workaholic!” she laughs. Her story and energy challenge every assumption about older employees in today’s fast-paced economy.

Trideal Houses was born out of the need to develop sustainable and affordable housing for people living in urban slums. The idea was inspired by disasters such as Hurricane Yolanda in the Philippines, which wiped out millions of homes. Michel Loots, an entrepreneurial mind with a background in medicine and economics, decided to combine his extensive knowledge from UN publications and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into a project aimed at structurally addressing poverty.

We recently expanded our charging infrastructure at the Sint-Niklaas office to better meet the growing charging needs of our vehicle fleet. In total, 25 charging points are now available for charging electric company cars.

We recently made our carbon footprint calculation for 2023. Our carbon footprint is calculated annually with regards to our CO2-management system (CO2​​​​​​​-performance ladder).

On Tuesday, September 17, 2024, SBE once again participated in the annual 'Car Free Workday' as part of Mobility Week 2024. "We encourage our employees to choose sustainable modes of transportation on this day, such as public transport, cycling, or walking. As a reward, they will receive a delicious and healthy breakfast. Even our CEOs, Jan and Koen Thomas, are leaving their cars at home that day!"

Rijkswaterstaat en zes ingenieurs- en adviesbureaus hebben op 22 augustus 2024 het Convenant Bureau Herberekeningen bruggen & viaducten ondertekend. Binnen dit bureau werken Rijkswaterstaat, de zes ingenieurs- en adviesbureaus en kennisinstituten (o.a. TNO) gelijkwaardig samen aan het herrekenen van de duurzaamheid van 50 vaste stalen bruggen, 40 beweegbare bruggen en 240 betonnen bruggen of viaducten.

At the end of April, King George Café announced that after 8 successful years, it would permanently close its doors and look for a new owner. The takeover has now been completed. With pride, King George Café and SBE announce today that, as of September 1st, the café will be taken over by engineering consultancy SBE. The Sint-Niklaas-based company will exclusively open the café for its 250 employees.
