Pelotons and athletic challenges for sustainable commuting
From various corners of Flanders (Mechelen, Antwerp, Ghent, and the Dender region), four SBE morning pelotons set off towards Sint-Niklaas. Colleagues joined these cycling groups to ride to the office together, both in the morning and evening. This year, the efforts of the 90 participants are being rewarded with a well-deserved breakfast at the brand-new SBE Café, which officially opened for staff today at 8:30 AM.
Extra Effort
This edition, colleague Stijn Vandevyver is taking on a special challenge by incorporating three different sports into his commute from Moerbeke to Sint-Niklaas. Everyone is welcome to cheer him on or even join him along the way!
In previous editions, several SBE colleagues have already achieved remarkable athletic feats during their commute to work. In 2022, colleague Bart cycled 120 km from his home on the coast to the SBE office in Sint-Niklaas. Last year, Karel-Jan and Joshua came up with the idea to run 40 km from Ghent to Sint-Niklaas, nearly the distance of a marathon. This year, we have Stijn’s impressive initiative. We’re already curious about what the next bold proposal will be…
SBE: Committed to Sustainability
At SBE, we are continuously striving to make the world more sustainable together. We design the future in a sustainable way and take various initiatives to reduce our carbon footprint. We have been participating in the Voka Charter for Sustainable Entrepreneurship for years and have developed a unique sustainability tool, SPIRIT, for our projects. This tool helps to place sustainability at the heart of our work, benefiting both our clients and our project engineers.

Tridealhouse: A smart home as a response to slum poverty
07/08/2025Trideal Houses was born out of the need to develop sustainable and affordable housing for people living in urban slums. The idea was inspired by disasters such as Hurricane Yolanda in the Philippines, which wiped out millions of homes.
